Sources Sought/Request for Information Description: This Sources Sought (SS) Notice is in support of Market Research being conducted by the United States Navy to identify pod type cleaning compounds in compliance with Commercial Item Descriptions (CIDs) for U.S. Navy ships. The U.S. Navy has published CIDs for 22 categories of cleaning compounds. The CIDs contain requirements for salient characteristics and regulatory compliance. Material requirements were developed based on Navy storage, safety, and environmental requirements. The 22 CID categories are: Air Freshener, Carpet Cleaner, Dishwasher Descaler, Hand Dishwashing Detergent, Disinfecting Wipes, Foam Hand Soap, Furniture Polish, Hand Sanitizer, Borax Hand Soap, Liquid Hand Soap, Metal Polish, Oven Cleaner, Pre-Soak Cleaner, Ready-To-Use General Purpose Detergent, Waterless Hand Cleaner, Dishwasher Detergent Machine, Dishwasher Rinse Additive, Floor Stripper, Food Contact Cleaner, Heavy Duty Cleaner Concentrated, and Non Food Contact Disinfectant. The purpose of this SS is to issue a Request for Information (RFI) to identify vendors and cleaning products within the 22 CID categories listed above and are in the form of a pod. A “pod” is a term for the delivery method of concentrated cleaning products that are not sold as a bulk-liquid and are issued in units of capsules, cartridges, or packs. The CIDs are provided in Attachments A-V. This SS will be reviewed by the Navy to determine if the scope of any of the 22 CIDs should be expanded to include pods.
