This contract will strengthen the connection between field-level animal health professionals, existing biosurveillance infrastructure, and national-level policy frameworks in Iraq to reduce the threat of transboundary outbreaks of EDPs. Outcomes of this project will support the Government of Iraq (GoI) federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) with animal disease detection and control while maximizing BTRP’s other investments in diagnostic laboratory capacity building throughout Iraq. The proposed project will improve disease detection, sample collection, sample transport, and reporting in the field by training provincial veterinarians and livestock producers on relevant biosurveillance, biosecurity, and biosafety practices.
