The Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain has a requirement for a sole sourced Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) contract in support of the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) to execute ship repair on the USS GLADIATOR (MCM-11). The USS GLADIATOR (MCM-11) has submitted a work notification on their Port Main Reduction Gear (MRG) to remove negative mold on pinion tooth and conduct evaluation on MRG tooth components. The item or service is only available from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and repair on MRG systems requires detailed design knowledge, access to manufacturer’s drawings, manufacturing history, and readily available factory parts, which can only be provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The Main Reduction Gear (MRG) is manufactured by Siemens Demag Delaval which contains OEM components supplied and maintained by Timken Gears & Services, Inc. DBA Philadelphia Gear. PHILADELPHIA GEAR is the OEM for the MRG components and the technical data of the equipment is proprietary. Accordingly, PHILADELPHIA GEAR is the only company with the requisite expertise, technical information, and capability to meet the Government’s need. This not a request for quote nor a request for proposals. This is a pre-solicitation synopsis informing the public of the Government’s intent to award a sole source award.
